We still feel the joy from Friday’s celebration of Achievement First Linden Middle School’s official ribbon-cutting for their new building in East New York!

The day was filled with excitement, beginning with student-led tours that brought the new, state-of-the-art space to life, followed by a captivating performance from the Linden MS Step Team. Inspiring words from Principal Stephanie Blieka, AF CEO Lisa Margosian, District 19 Senator Roxanne J. Persaud, and student leader Gabriella added to the momentous occasion.

We were so grateful to be surrounded by community members: students, families, partners, advocates, and supporters for this special milestone. Congratulations, Linden MS—this new building is just the start! We are so excited for the future leaders who will walk these halls and the inspiring paths they’ll take from here.

September 15th marked the official start of Latinx Heritage Month! This month serves as a reminder that Latinx history and culture is American history and culture. We take this month as an opportunity to acknowledge the tireless contributions made to the United States by Hispanic and Latinx communities, while also allowing us the space to continue learning about the traditions, struggles, and stories of these communities as well.

Throughout the course of the month, we will be highlighting our Latinx AF community and just how important their culture and heritage is to them. Make sure to tune into our page all month long!

Meet Kasi, a shining star from Achievement First Iluminar Middle School in Providence, Rhode Island!

From her first drawings at age 2 to earning awards, Kasi’s passion for art has always been undeniable. But it’s her love for dance that has truly taken center stage. At just 3 years old, Kasi began dancing, and now, her dedication and talent have earned her the prestigious PPAC Arts Scholarship!

Kasi’s journey is a testament to her hard work, the support of her family, and the opportunities provided by her school and community programs. We couldn’t be more proud of her and can’t wait to see where her talent takes her next!
