We sat down with Breanna, a 6th grader at Achievement First Hartford Summit Middle to learn more about her and her growth in school. Tell us about yourself. I’m 12 years old. I like movies, shoes, and school. My favorite subject is math because it’s easy and fun! What is your favorite thing about going to school at AF Hartford Middle? I like the classes and environment. I really like Ms. Turkington because she accepts me the way I am, and she helps me express myself. We hear you’ve grown a lot this year. Can you tell us a little bit more about that? I made sure I studied and looked over all the things I needed to know. I paid attention to the notes that we got in school. I also told myself that I could do it. After I took the state test, I felt confident. When I saw my test scores, I was happy because I saw that I grew between 5th and 6th grade. What advice would you give other students who want to improve in school? In school, all you have to do is pay attention, make sure you do your work, and be confident in what you do. What are your goals this year and for the future? This year, I want to get a 4.0 GPA because last year I was so close—I got a 3.9. In the future, I want to be a producer because I like action movies, and I think it’d be fun to work with cameras and actors. Amazing! Thank you for sharing, Breanna!
