Achievement First Achievement First

Teach. Learn. Love

As a teacher at Achievement First, you’ll be a champion who believes all students are capable of greatness and achievement far beyond what society has been conditioned to accept. You will be a demander of excellence for yourself and your students, encouraging and accepting nothing less than students’ best and most thoughtful work.

You are already a passionate learner who is hungry for professional development and thrives on feedback. Here, you will cultivate classroom cultures built on strong structures, communication and lasting relationships. You will be part of a powerful team that is all aligned around the same goals. Every day, your hard work will prepare students who will go on to become first-generation college graduates and lead our communities as the next generation of game-changers.

And you’ll grow. You can journey toward becoming a dean or grade-level leader. You can progress through our principal-in-residence program. Most importantly, you can grow in your career without ever leaving the classroom, if that’s the path you choose. Our Teacher Career Pathway helps teachers grow through five distinct career stages from intern to master teacher, each with more compensation, recognition and professional growth opportunities. Your growth matters to us. Because doing what’s best for kids means doing what’s best for teachers, too.

  • Application and Hiring Process

    • What can you expect when you’re applying for a job with us? We want to make the process as seamless as possible, so while the specifics can vary from person to person, here’s an overview:
      • Apply: We accept applications on a rolling basis, and our recruitment team responds to all completed applications within seven business days.
      • Phone Interview: Selected applicants will participate in a phone interview with a member of our recruitment team. This call will focus on your previous experience and the content of your application.
      • Guest Lesson & In-Person Interview: After the phone interview, some applicants will be invited to an in-person interview at one of our schools in Connecticut, Brooklyn or Rhode Island. We’ll be looking for your ability to lead a 25-45 minute guest lesson, and we’ll want to see your classroom management instincts, your overall teacher personality and lesson delivery. After the lesson, you’ll reflect with school-based faculty and the recruitment team.
      • Reference Check: A member of our recruitment team will contact your references at some point during the process. We will notify you before contacting any of your references.
