At AF, we are deeply committed to the professional development of our staff and ensuring they have time and space to gather and thought partner. Happy Pride Month from Achievement First! We celebrate the diversity and strength of our LGBTQIA+ community this month and all year long. Together, we strive for a world where everyone can learn and thrive authentically.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and we couldn’t close the month without amplifying those who keep this awareness core to our mission. Achievement First is strongly committed to providing our students with learning environments that foster social-emotional health and psychological safety. This could not be done without the tireless efforts of social workers like Liza, who currently works at @afaspiretigers and is also an AF parent! In our latest blog, we talked to Liza about her passion for social work, creating an environment of mental wellness for students, and balancing her roles as both AF staff member and parent!
Check out the link in our bio to read more about her story!

Cynthia Louis-Dale, Providence resident and principal of Achievement First Envision Elementary School, believes in providing high-quality educational choices for all Providence students. She is hopeful that the Providence City Council will allow us and our @excelacademycharter colleagues to create a new home of learning at the former Carl G. Lauro school. Learn more about her story and dedication to children by watching this video.
This month on our blog, Achievement First will share inspiring stories from our Rhode Island community alongside our colleagues at Excel Academy Charter Schools. We're hoping to co-locate in a historic Providence building with city council approval. In our first post, proud Excel parent and staff member Reyna shares her support for the Carl G. Lauro building plans, which promise a strong educational experience and community revitalization. See why Reyna believes it’s a game-changer for our AF and Excel students, and Providence, at the link in our bio!
