Things to Do

The Brooklyn Museum - This is one of the oldest and largest art museums in the country. Its world-renowned permanent collections range from ancient Egyptian masterpieces to contemporary art, and represent a wide range of cultures.

Central Library, Brooklyn Public Library - The library's notable architecture was created to resemble an open book, with the spine on Grand Army Plaza and the building's two wings opening like pages onto Eastern Parkway and Flatbush Avenue.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden - Growing from its humble beginnings as an ash dump in the late 1800’s, Brooklyn Botanic Garden has come to represent today the very best in urban gardening and horticultural display.

Brooklyn Bridge Park – this is a great park for walking, eating, and watching movies in the summer. It has a wonderful view of the Manhattan skyline, Statue of Liberty, etc. In DUMBO.

Brooklyn Heights Promenade – close to the Brooklyn Bridge Park, this is also a fantastic place to view the lights of Manhattan from the comfort of Brooklyn. It’s a great place to take a walk at night. In Brooklyn Heights.

DeKalb Market – this is a fantastic and ever-growing outdoor market with tons of food, coffee, baked goods, jewelry, clothing, and other odds and ends. It is closed until spring, but will certainly be worth a trip!

Prospect Park – Great running, walking, meandering. There’s also a big farmer’s market every Saturday (year-round!), 8am-4pm.
