Do you ever wish you could bring your friends and family to work with you? Well, through our referral program, you totally can! We’re talking to AFers who’ve referred their loved ones and BFFs to join us at AF to hear about how they’re taking Team & Family to the next level. Read our previous story in this series here.  MEET THE FAMILY: DiCo works at AF Brooklyn High, teaching Latin and coaching Speech & Debate. Joey is DiCo’s younger brother, and he’ll be teaching math next year at AF East New York Middle. We sat down with DiCo to hear more about bringing Joey into the AF fold. Why did you refer Joey? I love teaching, and in some ways, Joey was my first student. He’s my little brother, and my earliest memories involve us staying up late in our bunkbeds and him asking me about the world. What’s your favorite thing about working at AF? My favorite thing about working at AF is the autonomy I have been given to build our Speech & Debate Team from scratch. What started as an idea has become a nationally ranked program. We’ve had sixteen scholars qualify for the State Championship and three for the National Championship. We are basically the only school like us on the national circuit, and it wouldn’t have been possible were it not for the support from Cristina [the principal] and the other leaders at AF Brooklyn High. Why did you think Joey would be a good match for AF? Our mission matters more to me than just about anything, and I want the best possible teachers by my side working to support our kids. I’ve always considered Joey one of the smartest people I’ve ever met, and I want him on our team. What’s one fun fact about Joey? Even though he thinks acting is a waste of time, he is darn good at it. He won Nationals in Speech & Debate as a senior and his help in coaching has been the primary reason that our kids have placed at national tournaments last year. Amazing! Thank you for sharing. Joey & DiCo, we're glad to have you in our AF Team & Family.  Do you know someone who’d be a great fit for the AF team? Refer them today!
