Serena Johnson is the principal of Elm City College Prep Elementary School. She is entering my 18th year in education, her 13th year serving the Elm City community, and her 3rd year as Principal.
Throughout her career, she has been committed to creating learning environments where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.
Principal Johnson’s educational philosophy is rooted in the belief that all humans have the ability to learn, and it is the responsibility of educators to find the best ways to teach and support each student. She believes that every child can achieve success when provided with the right opportunities, encouragement, and instruction tailored to their unique needs.
As a school leader, she believes that fostering a positive learning environment is a cornerstone of a successful school. She is passionate about building strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community members because she knows that these partnerships create opportunities that help our students thrive both academically and personally.
Born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut, Principal Johnson views her role at Elm City as an opportunity to give back to the community that poured into her, supported her, and helped shape the person she is today. She believes that it is is both a privilege and an honor to serve the students, families, and staff of Elm City.
