We are so excited to welcome families to our newest school in Queens! Achievement First Legacy Elementary is a public charter school located within the St. Albans neighborhood in Queens, NY. Our school is designed to instill a lifelong passion and love of learning, so students can be set up for success both academically and professionally.
Stephanie Cruz is a dedicated leader with a background rooted in fostering academic excellence. Currently principal of Legacy Elementary, she began her career with Teach For America in New York City, teaching preschool while earning her Masters in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from Hunter College. Certified to teach from Birth through 2nd grade, Stephanie’s journey includes being recognized as a distinguished teacher at Achievement First. She has served as a teacher and later as an academic and special services dean. Her leadership consistently drove student outcomes to top positions within the network. Stephanie holds a dual degree in Policy Studies and Sociology from Syracuse University. Committed to educational equity and student success, she continues to lead Legacy Elementary with a focus on collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and ensuring every student receives a high-quality education.
