Achievement First Apollo Middle School is a public charter school located in Brooklyn, NY within the East New York neighborhood. Serving students in 5th through 8th grade, we are focused on cultivating a love of learning and setting students up for success in high school and beyond.
Nana Akuba Sackey is Principal of Achievement First Apollo Middle School. Nana brings over seven years of experience at Achievement First, during which she has served across instructional, operational, and leadership roles, including as a Middle School Learning Specialist, High School Teacher and Special Education Coordinator, High School Dean of Special Services, and Principal in Residence.
This breadth of experience has given her an enterprise-wide perspective on what it takes to build schools where every student thrives. Nana’s leadership is grounded in a deep, unwavering belief that all students can and will learn at high levels, and her work reflects that conviction. As Dean of Special Services at University Prep HS, she strengthened co-teaching practices, expanded equitable graduation pathways, and built a data-driven approach to closing reading gaps that accelerated outcomes for diverse learners.
Rooted in her own experiences growing up across Ghana, Brooklyn, and Queens, Nana leads with both personal purpose and proven skill.
