Achievement First East Brooklyn High School is based on an innovative premise: closing the achievement gap by providing a prep-school quality education to inner-city students. Achievement First East Brooklyn High School combines rigorous academics and high expectations with a host of supports, including SAT prep, intensive college counseling, tutoring, explicit character education and a school culture in which it is “cool” to be smart. Key facets of the Achievement First East Brooklyn High School program include:
Achievement First is a growing network of non-profit, high-performing, college-preparatory, K to 12 public charter schools in Connecticut, New York and Rhode Island. The mission of Achievement First is to deliver on the promise of equal educational opportunity for all of America's children. We believe that all children, regardless of race or economic status, can succeed if they have access to a great education. Achievement First schools provide all of our students with the academic and character skills they need to graduate from top colleges, to succeed in a competitive world and to serve as the next generation of leaders in our communities.
Sabrina Silver is the founding principal of Achievement First East Brooklyn High School. Ms. Silver joined Achievement First as the founding director of operations at AF Brooklyn High in 2009. She became that school’s dean of college in 2014, and revolutionized the college access process, facilitating student matriculation to many impressive schools including Stanford University, Dartmouth College and Georgetown University.
We are always eager for visitors to see firsthand the extraordinary teaching and learning taking place in our schools. Click here to learn more about visiting an Achievement First school.
