Achievement First operates a network of 41 public charter schools dedicated to academic excellence and student success. This includes high-quality charter schools in Hartford, CT, New Haven, Bridgeport, Brooklyn, NY, and Providence, RI.  In the 2021-22 academic year, we served 15,000 students in grades kindergarten to 12. In our schools, you’ll find some of the best teaching and learning in the country.

Every day, our students are solving for x and shattering stereotypes, winning debate tournaments and football games, and shining as first-generation college students. Through rigorous academics and unwavering support, they are building the skills and mindset for college readiness and lifelong success. They are constantly learning and improving and so are we. We are strong but not satisfied, and we won’t stop until all children have access to the high-quality education they need and deserve.

  • In Connecticut

    AF Amistad High is ranked the number one high school in Connecticut, a testament to the excellence of charter schools in Hartford, CT. And that’s not all. We’re #20 in the entire nation. For the last three years, we have been a U.S. News & World Report Gold Medal School.

  • In New York

    Every AF school’s eighth-grade class performed in the top 3% of New York schools in math, outperforming wealthy communities including Scarsdale and Larchmont.

  • In Rhode Island

    Achievement First Providence was named a 2017 Commended School, putting the school in the top 7% of all Rhode Island schools. As the only commended school serving majority Latino, Black and low-income students and requiring no exams for entrance, it is proving what is possible.
