Raven Obas is the principal of Achievement First Hartford Academy Elementary. Prior to this role, Mrs. Obas served as the academic dean for math and science and the dean of school culture at Achievement First East New York Elementary, where she also served as a principal-in-residence. Mrs. Obas joined AF East New York Elementary in 2011 as a third grade teacher. In 2015-16, she helped lead the school’s third graders to achieve state test scores that were the highest in school history and among the highest in the AF network for math. Mrs. Obas was a 2011 Teach For America corps member in New York City and graduated from Syracuse University with her bachelor’s degree in international relations and African-American studies. She has also earned her master’s degree in education from Relay Graduate School of Education.
