Jazlynn

Through hard work and perseverance, our scholars are showing all the amazing things they can do. Jazlynn, a fifth-grader at Hartford Summit Middle, grew TWO levels in her ELA state exams. We sat down with Jazlynn to learn more about her and her growth.

Can you tell me about yourself?
I’m in fifth grade. I like to spend my free time with my dog, Coco, and ride bikes.

What is your favorite part about school?
My favorite part of school is all the activities we have. This year we created a map of our history class, and it was really fun! I also really like math because I have a lot of experience with it since I’ve been doing it since kindergarten.

We heard you grew two levels in ELA. How did you feel when you got your test scores back?
I was surprised because I didn’t know I was going to do that well.

Well, congratulations! You did awesome. What advice would you give other students who want to improve in school?
Some advice that I have is to push through, try your hardest, and eventually you will make it to where you want to be. One study tip I learned is to block out all the noise and really focus.

That’s great advice! What are you looking forward to this year?

I’m excited to be in the same school as my older sisters, Alissa and Alona. They’re both in eighth grade and they’re twins!

That’s so cool! So what’s next for you? What do you want to be when you grow up?

I haven’t really figured it out yet, but I’m pushing toward being an archaeologist. We’re reading this story in close reading about ancient Egypt and how they found King Tut’s tomb. I want to study and discover things like that.

Thank you, Jazlynn! We can’t wait to see what you’ll accomplish next!
