After deciding to leave the financial industry for more purposeful work, Dennis began researching opportunities in the education field. He had planned to move to Korea to teach English, but a friend recommended he look into Achievement First. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Dennis quickly realized that his purpose was here at home with us.
As a teacher-in-residence, Dennis is learning more than he could have ever imagined. From creating lesson plans to building an effective classroom culture and connecting with his students, he’s loving learning the ropes. His favorite part? The excitement he sees in his students’ eyes when they connect the dots on their own.
“There’s a lot of personal growth that comes with this job that was absent in other jobs I’ve had. I know I’m in the right place—I’m smiling and having fun every day. I commit 100%to the school and all the kids who are depending on me to help them learn and develop into great people. “
