The role of a Paraprofessional at Achievement:
Achievement First invites passionate educators to apply for the position of Paraprofessional. Working at Achievement First is an ideal position for an educator with deep passion for instruction who is eager to gain rigorous development to help perfect his/her craft. In addition to participating in weekly professional development and team planning meetings, paraprofessionals receive consistent high-impact coaching and feedback from a school administrator or teacher-leader. Achievement First is committed to recruiting, developing and retaining excellent teammates.

Responsibilities of the Paraprofessional include but are not limited to: 
Student achievement

  • Work with students one-on-one or in small groups
  • Ensure that all students work at their fullest potential
  • Implement the Achievement First curriculum, systems, and philosophy on a daily basis

Role modeling

  • Attend school daily, with the exceptions of School related holidays and vacations as noted in the annual school calendar
  • Model the school's REACH (Respect, Enthusiasm, Achievement, Citizenship, and Hard Work) values and set the standard for professional behavior

Personal and professional growth

  • Participate in coaching and professional development to improve instructional practice, especially as it relates to discipline, student relationships, and school culture
  • Attend all Achievement First professional development workshops

Educational Background and Work Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree from a competitive college or university OR
  • Completion of a teacher assistant pre-employment training program approved by the RI  Department of Education and a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment

Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. Additionally, Achievement First offers a comprehensive benefits package. Teachers receive funds for supplies and materials as well as a laptop computer.
