Achievement First Brownsville Elementary School Results
Similar to traditional public schools, Achievement First Brownsville Elementary School students will take New York state tests at the close of each school year beginning in third grade. The school opened in August 2008 with kindergarten and first-grade students and will grow by one grade level each year. We assess the progress of students in these lower grades through nationally normed tests, including the Fountas and Pinnell (F&P) assessment, which tracks progress in reading fluency and comprehension.
The graph below shows the average F&P levels for Achievement First Brownsville Elementary School second graders, our oldest students. By the end of second grade, the average F&P level of these students surpassed the standard reading level for third graders (indicated by the solid horizontal line).
