Achievement First Amistad High School Results

Achievement First Amistad High School is accountable to the Connecticut State Department of Education for meeting student mastery standards. Therefore, similar to traditional public schools, Achievement First Amistad High School students will take the Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT) at the close of 10th grade.

CAPT Overview

The CAPT is a mandated, statewide test to assess 10th-grade students in the areas of reading, writing, math and science. The assessment relies heavily on written responses, in which students must demonstrate reasoning and logic. Although the CAPT may not be used as a sole graduation requirement, it is considered a good predictor of future success because it assesses the ability to apply what has been learned in the classroom to critical skills needed in the workforce or higher education.

The CAPT is scored on a scale of one (below basic) to five (advanced). The Connecticut State Department of Education requires students to score a three (proficient) or higher to receive a Certificate of Mastery. Students who do not score a three or higher may take the test again in 11th and/or 12th grade.
