The Residency Program for School Leadership Executive Track

The Residency Program for School Leadership Executive Track is designed for principals who are interested in driving deep adaptive change in public schools in our communities. Principals are one of the most important levers for impacting student achievement. Developing strong leaders for the highest-need schools in our communities is a critical step toward reversing our national education crisis.

As part of a groundbreaking collaboration between traditional public school districts and charter schools, the year-long Residency Program combines experiential learning, cutting-edge workshops and intense individualized coaching, leveraging the best practices of high-performing public charter schools and of the highest-impact principals in traditional district schools. Executive residents will gain distinct experience in instructional and change leadership strategies.

Program Themes

Work and training throughout the program are guided by a carefully constructed competency framework outlining the skills, mindsets and actions needed to make transformative change in schools. Executive residents will:

• Enhance their instructional expertise and leadership through deep dives in areas such as observation and feedback, data-driven instruction, and cultivating rigorous planning.

• Deepen their knowledge and skill in the area of emotionally intelligent leadership, adaptive change leadership, leading teams, and individual capacity building.

• Develop robust data practices focused on outcomes and school-wide practices in the areas of organizational management and school culture. 

• Articulate and create a plan for ensuring an equitable and accessible school community.

• Improve their ability to effectively communicate an inspirational vision to a variety of stakeholders.
