Achievement First: Many Minds, One Mission
Respect • Enthusiasm • Achievement • Citizenship • Hard Work June 2011

As the end of the school year approaches, Achievement First teachers will continue to take advantage of every available minute in June, even after state tests are finished. Below are some of the resources we use to maintain a strong culture and rigor until the last day of school.

For more great classroom and professional development resources, check out our Teacher Resources page here.

Achievement First special education teachers develop, advocate for, and implement academically oriented programs for scholars with special needs. They collaborate with parents, educators, scholars, school districts and other agencies to ensure that all exceptional children have available to them a free, appropriate and academically driven educational experience.

Here is what one teacher says about working with scholars with special needs:

"There is never a dull moment, and learning and development is a constant day-to-day activity. With the program we have in place and the amount of love we provide for our students, many who receive special services often move to a less restrictive environment than that which they came into. Ultimately, we want all of our students to learn and work in the environment that is most appropriate for their learning styles. It is amazing when we are able to modify our instruction, plans and schedules to meet their individualized needs and provide that environment!" - Vanessa Linton, learning specialist, Achievement First Brownsville Elementary School

'11-'12 Elementary Teacher

Achievement First elementary teachers play an integral part in helping our scholars begin their journey to college and beyond. Achieving these goals primarily depends on placing great teachers into classrooms, thus we invest heavily in our educators. Each teacher is paired with a one-on-one coach and the school week is structured so that teachers devote half of every Friday to professional development with their grade-level and/or subject teams. We invest in each of our teachers with the understanding that they have the power to accomplish our mission of providing all students with the academic and character skills necessary to succeed in a competitive world.
