Academic Alignment

Achievement First high schools share a set of rigorous academic standards carefully aligned to the critical aspects of college readiness (for more on this, see Conley Framework). Developed based on student work at some of the country's most prestigious private schools, these standards take the guesswork out of what it means to provide scholars with a college-preparatory education in every grade and subject area. To ensure alignment around these standards, Achievement First teachers meet together several times a week to assess student work -- once as grade-level teams, then again as departments. This regular realignment helps to maintain school-wide focus on scholar outputs, reinforce a shared language of achievement, and ensure ongoing consistency of execution and expectations.
